The Original Moka Express

Alfonso Bialetti introduced the Moka Express in 1933, creating the eight-sided aluminum coffee maker that would become an Italian design icon. The original silver version keeps the design at its most recognizable, with polished aluminum construction and the mustachioed l'Omino con i baffi printed on the upper chamber.

Brewing remains simple. Add water to the lower chamber, fill the funnel with ground coffee without tamping, assemble the pot, and place it over low to medium heat. As the water heats, pressure moves the brewed coffee into the upper chamber for the concentrated, full-bodied cup associated with moka brewing.
