The WÜSTHOF IKON 9" Double-Serrated Bread Knife cuts crusty artisan loaves, soft rolls, cakes, and hard-skinned produce with less downward pressure. Wüsthof IKON 9" Double-Serrated Bread Knife

Double Serrations for Clean, Controlled Slices

The 9-inch blade provides enough cutting length for wide sourdough loaves, sandwich bread, baguettes, and larger baked goods. Its double-serrated edge places smaller serrations within the larger teeth, helping the knife grip firm crusts while reducing pressure on softer interiors.

The additional cutting points also make the knife useful for cakes, pastries, and fruit or vegetables with resistant skins. Rather than forcing a straight blade through the food, the serrations work with a controlled sawing motion to produce even slices with less tearing.

Wüsthof IKON 9" Double-Serrated Bread Knife

Forged German Steel and Natural African Blackwood

The IKON Bread Knife is forged in Solingen, Germany, from WÜSTHOF steel hardened to 58 HRC. Its narrow blade moves through food with less resistance than a broad chef's knife, while the forged construction provides balanced handling during longer slicing strokes.

The contoured African Blackwood handle has a natural grain pattern that varies from knife to knife. This distinctive material requires simple but consistent care: hand washing, immediate drying, and periodic conditioning with food-grade mineral oil.

From Our Founder

"A good bread knife needs to cut the crust without flattening the loaf underneath. The double-serrated edge does that work with less pressure, and the African Blackwood handle gives this IKON a very different feel from a standard synthetic-handled knife."

Questions answered

Frequently asked questions

What is the advantage of the IKON Bread Knife's double-serrated edge?

The blade has smaller serrations within its larger teeth, providing additional cutting points that grip firm crusts while moving through softer interiors with less downward pressure. The design supports clean slices through crusty artisan bread, soft rolls, and delicate baked goods.

Can the WÜSTHOF IKON Bread Knife cut foods other than bread?

Yes. Its 9-inch double-serrated blade also handles hard-skinned fruit and vegetables, cakes, pies, and pastries. It is particularly useful when a firm exterior surrounds a soft interior that could compress under a straight cutting edge.

How does this knife differ from the CLASSIC IKON 9" Bread Knife?

Both use forged German blades with precision double-serrated edges. The IKON version features a natural African Blackwood handle, while CLASSIC IKON uses a contoured synthetic handle. The cutting applications are similar, but the handle material, appearance, and care requirements differ.

How should I maintain the African Blackwood handle and serrated blade?

Wash by hand and towel-dry immediately, avoiding prolonged soaking and dishwasher cleaning. Periodically condition the wooden handle with food-grade mineral oil. Protect the serrated edge during storage and use a sharpening service experienced with serrated knives when sharpening is needed.
