Use & Care

Cut on a soft wood or quality synthetic cutting board, avoiding stone, glass, metal, or bamboo.
Do not cut bones, frozen food, or hard pits, or use the knife to pry or twist.
Store with the cutting edge protected.
Use long, gentle sawing strokes rather than heavy downward pressure.
Avoid using a standard pull-through sharpener or flat whetstone on the serrated edge; Shun's manufacturer sharpening service does not sharpen serrated knives.
Seek an experienced specialist when serration service is needed.

The Shun Premier 9" Bread Knife uses broad, low-frequency serrations to cut crusty loaves, soft sandwich bread, cakes, and pastries with less crushing and fewer crumbs. Its long Japanese-made blade combines a VG-MAX cutting core with Damascus cladding and a hammered finish, while the contoured Pakkawood handle offers control through full slicing strokes.
