Use & Care
Draw the edge lightly along each side of the steel, alternating sides.
Use the smooth surface for routine honing and the micro-ribbed surface less frequently, according to the condition of the edge.
Honing aligns an edge; it does not replace sharpening.
Wipe the rod clean and dry after use.
Hand wash the handle as needed; do not soak or place in a dishwasher.

The Shun Premier 9" Combination Honing Steel realigns the fine edges of Shun knives between sharpenings. Its two stainless steel honing surfaces offer gentle routine maintenance and additional correction when required, while the built-in angle guide helps maintain the intended 16° honing position.

Edge Maintenance Between Sharpenings
