Zassenhaus Santiago Manual Coffee Mill - Natural Beech
German-made manual coffee grinder with natural beechwood body, hardened steel conical burrs, and continuously adjustable grind settings
The Zassenhaus Santiago Manual Coffee Mill in Natural Beech gives you precise control over freshly ground coffee with the solid construction of a traditional German hand grinder. Made in Germany, it combines a hardened steel conical burr mechanism with continuously adjustable grind settings, a 30-gram bean hopper, and a fitted wooden grounds drawer. The curved beechwood body can be held securely between your knees or used on a countertop, making it a practical choice for anyone who enjoys grinding coffee by hand.
Why Order from Design & Grace
Authorized Zassenhaus retailer: Design & Grace is an authorized Zassenhaus retailer, so you receive genuine Zassenhaus products backed by the full manufacturer warranty.
Ships from Texas: Your Zassenhaus coffee mill is carefully packed and shipped from our Texas facility.
German-made grinding mechanism: The hardened steel burr mechanism provides consistent grinding and carries a 25-year manufacturer warranty.
Traditional German Coffee Grinding
The Santiago follows the classic European lap mill design. Its narrow wooden body has gently curved sides that rest comfortably between the knees while seated, providing stability as you turn the crank. You can also place the mill on a countertop for conventional hand grinding.
At the center is Zassenhaus's hardened special steel conical burr mechanism, made in Germany. Unlike blade grinders that chop coffee unevenly, the burrs crush beans to a controlled particle size. Adjust the grind continuously using the knurled screw beneath the crank, moving from fine grounds for concentrated coffee to coarser settings for French press and other brewing methods.
The 30-gram bean hopper accommodates a practical amount of coffee for daily brewing. Ground coffee collects in a fitted wooden drawer, which slides out for easy transfer to your brewer. A polished stainless steel hopper lid and crank complement the natural beechwood body.
Signature Features
Made in Germany: The Santiago is manufactured in Germany, combining traditional wooden mill construction with a precision steel grinding mechanism.
Hardened steel conical burrs: The high-quality steel mechanism grinds coffee consistently without the irregular chopping action of a blade grinder.
Continuously adjustable grind: Turn the knurled adjustment screw beneath the crank to select your preferred grind from fine to coarse, including intermediate settings.
Traditional lap mill design: The curved wooden sides allow the grinder to rest securely between your knees while seated for comfortable manual operation.
Natural beechwood construction: The solid European beechwood body provides a substantial feel and classic appearance, with natural grain variation.
30-gram bean capacity: The hopper holds approximately 1.1 ounces of whole coffee beans for everyday grinding.
Fitted grounds drawer: Freshly ground coffee collects in a removable wooden drawer for convenient transfer to your coffee maker.
Polished stainless steel fittings: The hopper lid and hand crank provide durable metal components that complement the natural wood finish.
Manual operation: No electricity, batteries, or disposable components are required for grinding.
25-year mechanism warranty: Zassenhaus backs the coffee grinding mechanism with a 25-year manufacturer warranty.
From Our Founder
"The Santiago is a proper traditional coffee mill. I like the way the curved wooden body sits securely between your knees, and the steel burrs give you much better control than a blade grinder. The natural beechwood and little grounds drawer are lovely details, but the real reason to choose it is the German-made mechanism and the fact that you can maintain it for years."
