Alessi Oaxaca Salt & Pepper Grinder
Italian-made beech wood mill for salt, pepper, and spices, designed by Michele De Lucchi
The Alessi Oaxaca Salt & Pepper Grinder brings Michele De Lucchi's sculptural approach to a familiar tabletop tool. Made from brown-dyed beech wood and finished with natural oil, it uses a traditional two-handed twisting motion to grind salt, pepper, and suitable dry spices at the table or while cooking.
Why Order from Design & Grace
Authorized Alessi retailer: Design & Grace is an authorized Alessi retailer, so you receive a genuine Oaxaca with Alessi's 24-month manufacturer warranty against manufacturing defects.
Ships from Texas: Your Alessi order is carefully packed and shipped from our Texas facility.
Designed for everyday use: Oaxaca works with salt, pepper, and suitable spices, giving you one mill for seasoning at the stove and at the table.
A Sculptural Mill in Beech Wood
Michele De Lucchi approaches Oaxaca as both a working grinder and a small wooden object. Its tapered body, offset upper form, and visible grain give the mill a distinct profile while preserving the simple mechanics of a traditional twist grinder.
The natural oil finish keeps the beech wood tactile rather than covering it with a heavy coating. Subtle differences in grain and tone are part of the material, making each piece slightly individual.
Signature Features
Salt, pepper, and spice mill: Designed for grinding a range of suitable dry seasonings rather than serving one dedicated function.
Traditional twist operation: Hold the grinder with both hands and rotate the upper and lower sections to operate the mill.
Beech wood body: Gives Oaxaca a warm, substantial feel and a natural contrast to Alessi's metal and resin tabletop pieces.
Natural oil finish: Protects the wood while preserving its grain, texture, and tactile surface.
Compact sculptural form: At 6.50 inches high, Oaxaca has enough presence for the table without taking up unnecessary space.
Michele De Lucchi design: The form reflects the designer's longstanding interest in woodworking and hand-shaped wooden objects.
Made in Italy: Oaxaca is produced in Italy and joined the Alessi collection in 2025.
From Our Founder
"Oaxaca feels like a small piece of sculpture that happens to be useful every day. The wood, the asymmetrical shape, and the simple twisting action give it more character than a conventional grinder without making it harder to use."
Tony Boulton, Founder, Design & Grace
