The ACME Studio Dots Etched Card Case by Charles & Ray Eames brings one of the Eameses' celebrated graphic patterns to a compact metal business accessory. Rather than simply printing the artwork on the surface, ACME etches the Dots design into the mirror chrome lid and applies black lacquer within the recessed areas, giving the pattern both visual and physical depth.

The Eames Dots Pattern
The Dots pattern originated with Charles and Ray Eames and was developed in connection with a 1947 textile competition at The Museum of Modern Art in New York. The design was later put into production by the Eames Office with textile manufacturer Maharam.
On this ACME card case, the pattern becomes part of the metal surface itself. The engraving and hand-applied black lacquer give the familiar graphic a more tactile treatment than ACME's standard image-applied card cases.
