Use & Care
Attach the cap securely to a compatible Standard-size AeroPress brewer.
Add coffee and water according to your preferred recipe.
Allow the coffee to steep for the desired time without pressing.
Begin pressing when ready; plunger pressure opens the valve and allows coffee to flow into the cup.
A filter must always be used with the Flow Control Filter Cap.
Rinse the cap after brewing to remove coffee residue.
For deeper cleaning, place the cap on the top rack of the dishwasher.
If using a paper filter, remove it carefully after brewing before rinsing the cap.
Allow the cap to dry fully before storage.

The AeroPress Flow Control Filter Cap gives you more control over how long coffee stays in contact with the water before pressing. Its pressure-actuated valve remains closed during steeping, then opens only when you begin to press, letting you extend brew time, experiment with grind size, and make concentrated espresso-style coffee without using the inverted method.

Stop Drip-Through Until You Press
The valve stays closed while coffee steeps, preventing the early drip-through that can occur with the standard filter cap. Once pressure from the plunger builds, the valve opens and the brewed coffee passes through the filter into the cup.
That extra control makes it easier to experiment with longer brew times, finer or coarser grinds, cold brew, and concentrated espresso-style recipes. With a paper filter and dark-roast coffee, AeroPress also notes that the cap can help create espresso-like crema.
