Wash and thoroughly dry both ceramic components before first use.
Allow one stick of real butter to soften enough to press firmly into the bell-shaped lid.
Pack the butter tightly into the lid, removing air pockets to prevent it from falling out.
Add approximately 1/3 cup of cold water to the crock base, enough to create a seal when the lid is inverted.
Place the butter-filled lid upside down into the water-filled base.
Replace the water with fresh cold water every 2 to 3 days.
Keep the crock away from direct sunlight, stovetops, and other heat sources.
Use real salted or unsalted butter. Margarine, whipped butter, and other soft spreads are not recommended for long-term storage.
Finish the existing butter before adding fresh butter.
Clean and dry the crock thoroughly between refills.
Both ceramic components are dishwasher safe, although hand washing is recommended.
For hand washing, use warm water, mild dish soap, and a soft sponge or cloth.
Avoid abrasive scouring pads and sudden temperature changes that could damage the ceramic.

Butter Bell Antique White Linen Crock

French-inspired ceramic butter keeper with embossed vineyard detailing, water-seal design, and one-stick capacity

The Butter Bell Antique White Linen Crock keeps real butter soft, fresh, and ready to spread without refrigeration. Made from durable New Bone China, it uses a traditional French-inspired water seal to protect butter while keeping it conveniently accessible on the counter. The warm white finish and raised vineyard pattern give this practical butter keeper the appearance of vintage European tableware.

Why Order from Design & Grace

Authorized Butter Bell retailer: Design & Grace is an authorized Butter Bell retailer, so you receive genuine Butter Bell products backed by the full manufacturer warranty.

Ships from Texas: Your Butter Bell crock is carefully packed and shipped from our Texas facility.

Ready-to-spread butter: The water-seal design keeps butter at a spreadable consistency without repeated trips to the refrigerator or waiting for cold butter to soften.

Traditional Butter Storage Without Refrigeration

The Butter Bell uses a simple two-piece design. Press softened butter firmly into the bell-shaped lid, add approximately 1/3 cup of cold water to the base, and invert the lid into the crock. The water creates a protective seal that helps keep the butter fresh while maintaining its soft, spreadable texture.

Each crock holds one standard stick of butter, approximately 1/2 cup, making it especially practical for everyday toast, bread, biscuits, and cooking. Replace the water every two to three days and keep the crock away from direct sunlight and heat sources for best results.

The Antique Collection takes its decorative inspiration from French country kitchens. Raised leaves and trailing vines wrap around the ceramic body, while the White Linen glaze provides a soft, neutral finish that coordinates naturally with everyday dinnerware.

Signature Features

Traditional water-seal design: The inverted bell sits in a shallow reservoir of cold water, helping protect the butter and maintain a spreadable consistency without refrigeration.

One-stick capacity: Holds approximately 1/2 cup or 125 grams of butter, a convenient amount for regular household use.

Durable New Bone China: Smooth glazed ceramic construction provides a substantial, easy-to-clean butter storage vessel.

Antique White Linen finish: A soft white glaze gives the crock a traditional appearance suitable for both kitchen counters and dining tables.

Embossed vineyard detailing: Raised leaves and scrolling vines give the Antique Collection its distinctive French country character.

Dishwasher safe: Both ceramic components can be cleaned in the dishwasher, although hand washing is recommended to preserve the finish.

Lead and cadmium free: The food-contact ceramic glaze is manufactured to Butter Bell's food-safety standards.

Compact countertop size: Measures approximately 4.25 inches high by 3.78 inches wide, keeping butter accessible without taking up much space.

From Our Founder

"A Butter Bell is one of those simple kitchen ideas that works remarkably well. You have soft butter ready whenever you need it, and changing the water takes only a moment. I particularly like the Antique White Linen version because the raised detailing gives it character without making it difficult to coordinate with the rest of your tableware."
