The Butter Bell crock uses a simple cold-water seal based on the traditional French method of storing butter. Softened butter is packed firmly into the bell-shaped lid, cold water is added to the base, and the bell is inverted into place to help keep the butter protected and spreadable.

The Honey Bee pattern features navy bees arranged around the crock and lid in a design inspired by the honey bee's distinctive waggle dance. It gives the piece a playful botanical character without changing the compact, functional shape of the original Butter Bell.
