Wüsthof CLASSIC 7" Chinese Chef's Knife

Wide-Blade Control for Everyday Prep

The 7-inch cutting edge provides enough length for large vegetables and full slicing strokes without becoming difficult to guide. Its 3-inch blade width creates generous knuckle clearance and a broad surface for scooping chopped ingredients into a bowl or pan.

This is a fine-edged Chinese chef's knife, not a heavy cleaver. Use it for vegetables, herbs, boneless meat, fruit, and fish. Do not use the edge to cut bones, frozen food, or very hard fruit such as coconuts.

Wüsthof CLASSIC 7" Chinese Chef's Knife

Chinese Chef's Knife, Not a Cleaver

The broad rectangular blade may resemble a cleaver, but its fine edge is designed for precise food preparation rather than bones. The added blade height gives you power, board clearance, and a practical way to move chopped ingredients without sacrificing slicing performance.

Questions answered

Frequently asked questions

What is a WÜSTHOF Chinese Chef's Knife best used for?

The broad, rectangular blade is designed for chopping, slicing, and dicing vegetables, herbs, fruit, and boneless meat. Its generous blade height provides knuckle clearance and makes it convenient to transfer prepared ingredients from the cutting board.

Can the CLASSIC Chinese Chef's Knife chop through bones?

No. Although its rectangular blade resembles a cleaver, this is a precision cutting knife rather than a heavy bone cleaver. Use it for ordinary food preparation, not for chopping through bones, frozen ingredients, or other materials that can damage the cutting edge.

How does a Chinese Chef's Knife differ from a European chef's knife?

The Chinese Chef's Knife has a broad, rectangular blade suited to direct chopping and slicing, with a large surface for transferring ingredients. A traditional European chef's knife has a more curved edge designed to support rocking cuts as well as slicing.

Is this knife suitable for preparing meat?

Yes. It can slice and portion boneless meat and poultry with controlled strokes. For close work around bones and joints, a narrower boning knife offers more precise access.
