How to clean the milk system on your Jura
Milk-system care has two parts. The rinse after a milk drink clears fresh residue from the milk path. The deeper clean uses Jura Milk System Cleaner Mini Tabs to remove milk fats and proteins that can remain inside the tubing and frothing components.
Those residues matter because they can build up inside parts you cannot easily see. Regular cleaning helps keep the milk path hygienic and keeps air and milk moving through the frother as intended.
About weekly, add the Mini Tabs as directed by your Jura and start the machine's automatic milk-system cleaning program. The machine then controls the cleaning sequence for you.
Daily rinse versus weekly clean
- After milk drinks: run the milk-system rinse.
- About weekly: use Milk System Cleaner Mini Tabs.
- Every few months: inspect and replace the milk tubing as needed.

Milk tubing does not last forever. Silicone milk tubes should be replaced around every 3 months with normal use, sooner if you make several milk drinks a day. Replacement tubes, connectors and stainless steel milk pipes are on our Jura accessories page.

Jura 3-Phase Cleaning Tablets
When your Jura displays a cleaning prompt, it is asking for the automatic coffee-system cleaning program. This is separate from milk cleaning and separate from descaling.
Jura 3-Phase Cleaning Tablets are designed to remove coffee oils and residues from the internal brewing path. Once you start the program and add the tablet when instructed, the machine controls the cleaning sequence automatically.
6 tablets or 25?
The 6-pack is convenient for normal home use. The 25-pack lowers the cost per cleaning cycle for owners who prefer to keep a longer supply on hand.
At current pricing, the 6-pack works out to $4.00 per tablet, while the 25-pack works out to $2.80 per tablet.

Limescale removal
Descaling your Jura
Jura's two-phase descaling process is designed to remove mineral scale and then protect the water-carrying parts of the machine. Phase one removes scale. Phase two supports protection of the pipes and thermoblock after the scale has been dissolved.
Jura Decalcifying Tablets are phosphate free. The 9-tablet box provides three descaling cycles because each cycle uses three tablets. The 36-tablet box provides twelve cycles.
Filter use changes the descale schedule
When an activated CLEARYL filter is being used correctly, your Jura will not ask you to descale, and Jura's position is that routine descaling is not required.
At Design & Grace, we still suggest an optional descale about once a year, especially in hard water areas. It is not a necessity.
If the filter is not active, or is not changed in time, the machine can ask you to descale instead.
Cleaning tablets and descaling tablets are not the same thing.
Cleaning tablets remove coffee oils and brewing residue. Descaling tablets remove mineral scale. Each product has its own Jura maintenance program, so do not substitute one for the other.

How often should I clean my Jura coffee machine?
Your Jura handles several different maintenance routines. Rinse the milk system after milk drinks, clean the milk system with Jura Milk System Cleaner about weekly, run the 3-phase cleaning program when the machine prompts you, and descale when prompted if an active CLEARYL filter is not being used. A CLEARYL filter lasts on average about two months or 50 liters of water, depending on water hardness and use.
How do I clean the milk system on my Jura?
Run the milk-system rinse after milk drinks, then use Jura Milk System Cleaner Mini Tabs for the deeper milk-system cleaning routine about weekly. Add the Mini Tabs as directed by your machine and start its automatic milk-system cleaning program. The program circulates the cleaning solution through the milk path to remove milk fats and proteins that a water rinse alone does not fully remove.
What is the difference between cleaning tablets and descaling tablets?
They do different jobs and use different machine programs. Jura 3-Phase Cleaning Tablets clean coffee oils and residues from the brewing system. Jura Decalcifying Tablets remove mineral scale through the machine descaling program. Do not treat them as interchangeable products.
Do I need to descale if I use a CLEARYL filter?
When an activated CLEARYL filter is in use, your Jura will not prompt you to descale, and Jura's position is that routine descaling is not required. At Design & Grace, we still suggest a descale about once a year, especially in hard water areas. This is optional maintenance, not a Jura requirement. If the filter is not active, is not changed in time, or the machine asks you to descale, follow the descaling program in your machine's instructions.
How often should I change the milk pipe?
For normal home use, we suggest replacing the milk pipe about every three months. Heavy milk use may justify replacing it more often. Regular replacement helps keep the milk path clean and the connection reliable.
Can I use non-Jura cleaning tablets in my Jura?
Design & Grace recommends genuine Jura 3-Phase Cleaning Tablets for Jura's automatic cleaning program. Third-party tablets are not the products specified by Jura for that program, so we do not substitute them in our maintenance guidance.
