Jura CLEARYL water filters. Find the right one for your machine.
Coffee is mostly water, so what goes into your Jura matters as much as the beans. A genuine CLEARYL filter protects the machine from limescale and leaves just enough mineral content for good coffee. Find the right cartridge for your machine below.

CLEARYL Smart Plus 24234
CLEARYL Smart Plus is the standard filter for most current Jura home machines in this guide. It filters the water directly in the tank before coffee preparation while helping protect the machine from limescale.
It fits GIGA 10, GIGA 6, Z10, Z8, Z6, J6, J8, J8 Twin, J10 Twin, S8, E8, E6, E4, D6, C9, C3, ENA 8 and ENA 4.

CLEARYL PRO Smart Plus 25056
Jura Professional and higher-use machines take the larger CLEARYL PRO Smart Plus cartridge. Its greater capacity is designed for machines that process more water, which is why the PRO cartridge costs more than the standard home-machine filter.
CLEARYL PRO Smart Plus 25056 fits GIGA X8, X8, X10, W8, WE8 and WE6.
PRO Smart Plus also uses RFID with compatible Jura machines so the Intelligent Water System can recognize and monitor the filter.

CLEARYL Blue Plus 24229
CLEARYL Blue Plus 24229 is the genuine Jura water filter for a large group of earlier Jura and IMPRESSA machines. The cartridge sits in the water tank and filters the water before preparation, helping support coffee quality while protecting the machine from limescale.
It fits GIGA 5, IMPRESSA Z9, IMPRESSA Z7, J95, J90, IMPRESSA J9.3, IMPRESSA J6, IMPRESSA F8, IMPRESSA F7, IMPRESSA F50 Classic, IMPRESSA C9, IMPRESSA C60, IMPRESSA A9, A9, A1, ENA 9, ENA Micro 90, ENA Micro 9, ENA Micro 5 and ENA Micro 1.

Genuine CLEARYL, Claris and generic filters
The names on water-filter cartridges can be confusing, especially when products intended for different markets appear online.
CLEARYL and Claris
- CLEARYL is the name used for genuine Jura filters sold in North America.
- Claris is the name used for the same family of filters outside North America.
- The Claris trademark is not licensed to Jura for filters in North America, so cartridges sold for the U.S. market are branded CLEARYL.
- Jura USA does not support Claris-branded filters with U.S. machines, so Design & Grace does not sell them.
Why genuine Jura filters matter
- Generic and third-party cartridges are not made to Jura's specification.
- Genuine Jura filters are made in Switzerland in Jura's own factory.
- CLEARYL Smart Plus and CLEARYL PRO Smart Plus cartridges carry RFID, which allows compatible Jura machines to recognize a genuine filter and monitor its use.
Changing your Jura filter and descaling
Filter life depends on the amount of water the machine uses and the hardness setting programmed into your Jura. The machine prompt is useful, but correct setup and the right water matter too.
Good water protects the machine and the coffee
A genuine Jura filter is not only about scale. It is designed to leave the mineral balance needed for good coffee while reducing unwanted substances that can affect taste and odor.
When to change it
A Jura filter lasts on average about 50 liters, or 1650 ounces, of water or about two months, whichever comes first. Actual capacity depends on the water-hardness setting and the amount of water your machine uses.
Compatible Smart and PRO Smart systems monitor filter use and prompt you when the cartridge needs to be changed.
How to replace and activate it
- Follow the filter-change prompt or maintenance menu on your Jura.
- Remove and empty the water tank.
- Remove the old cartridge and install the correct new CLEARYL filter. Reuse or fit the filter extension if your machine requires one.
- Refill the water tank with fresh, cold water and reinstall it.
- Smart-compatible machines normally recognize the new cartridge automatically. Older machines may require filter confirmation in the maintenance menu.
- Allow the machine's filter-rinsing cycle to finish before normal use.
Water hardness, filter life and the water you use
Filter capacity changes with the hardness setting programmed into the machine.
- All water counts, including power-up and power-down rinses. Minimizing unnecessary rinse cycles can extend filter life.
- If the filter is not changed in time, or the machine has not been set to filter mode, the machine can ask you to descale instead.
- Test your water with a test strip so the hardness setting is correct. Design & Grace can supply replacement strips on request. Call (940) 455-2205.
- Do not use distilled or reverse osmosis water. Coffee needs some mineral content. Bottled mineral water is not suitable either because its mineral content can be too high.
- A whole-house softener or reverse osmosis system does not replace the Jura filter. Water softeners do not remove chlorine or other taste and odor compounds.
Filters and descaling
When an activated CLEARYL filter is in use, your Jura will not prompt you to descale, and Jura's position is that routine descaling is not required.
At Design & Grace, we still suggest a descale about once a year, especially in hard water areas. This is optional maintenance, not a Jura requirement.
If the filter is not active or the machine asks you to descale, follow the descaling program in your machine's instructions.

Jura CLEARYL water filter FAQs
What is the difference between CLEARYL Smart Plus and Blue Plus?
CLEARYL Smart Plus 24234 is used by compatible current-generation Jura machines with the Intelligent Water System, while CLEARYL Blue Plus 24229 is the correct cartridge for the earlier Jura and IMPRESSA models listed on this page. Both filter water in the tank before preparation, but they fit different generations of machines.
How often should I change my Jura water filter?
A Jura filter lasts on average about 50 liters, or 1650 ounces, of water or about two months, whichever comes first. Actual capacity depends on the water hardness setting and your water use. All water used by the machine counts, including power-up and power-down rinses, so follow your machine prompt and make sure the hardness setting is correct.
Do I still need to descale if I use a filter?
When an activated CLEARYL filter is in use, your Jura will not prompt you to descale, and Jura's position is that routine descaling is not required. At Design & Grace, we still suggest a descale about once a year, especially in hard water areas. This is optional maintenance, not a Jura requirement. If the filter is not active or the machine asks you to descale, follow the descaling program in your machine's instructions.
What is the difference between CLEARYL and CLEARYL PRO?
CLEARYL PRO cartridges are the larger, higher-capacity format used by specific Jura Professional and higher-use machines. Standard CLEARYL Smart Plus, Blue Plus and White cartridges serve different home-machine families. Machines such as WE8, W8, X8 and GIGA X8 require the larger PRO cartridge.
Is 71445 the same as 24229?
71445 is the older CLEARYL Blue part number. For the machines on this page that previously used 71445, the current replacement supplied is CLEARYL Blue Plus 24229. The part numbers are different, so search and order by 24229 when replacing 71445.
Do you ship Jura filters same day?
Orders placed before 2pm CST ship the same business day when the filter is in stock. Jura care products ship from our Texas facility, and delivery timing depends on destination and the shipping service selected.
Do I save money buying filters in packs?
Yes. Multi-pack options reduce the per-filter cost. CLEARYL Smart Plus and Blue Plus offer savings up to 20% at the current pack prices, while CLEARYL White offers savings up to about 25%. CLEARYL PRO filters also have multi-pack options. Check the pack pricing on this page for the current prices.
