Alessi La Cupola Espresso Maker
Aluminum stovetop espresso maker designed by Aldo Rossi with a distinctive dome-shaped top
The Alessi La Cupola Espresso Maker turns the familiar moka pot into one of Aldo Rossi's most recognizable tabletop designs. Its aluminum body brews rich stovetop coffee in the traditional Italian method, while the tall cylindrical form and domed lid give the pot the architectural character that has defined La Cupola since 1988.
Why Order from Design & Grace
Authorized Alessi retailer: Design & Grace is an authorized Alessi retailer, so you receive a genuine La Cupola with Alessi's 24-month manufacturer warranty against product defects.
Ships from Texas: Your Alessi order is carefully packed and shipped from our Texas facility.
A lasting Alessi design: La Cupola has remained in production for decades because its straightforward moka brewing method and unmistakable Aldo Rossi form work equally well at the stove and on the table.
Architecture for the Coffee Ritual
Aldo Rossi approached La Cupola as a piece of small-scale architecture. The cylindrical body rises to a rounded dome, giving the coffee maker the profile of a tower while keeping the traditional moka pot mechanism simple and familiar.
The result is a coffee maker that does not hide its function. Water heats in the lower chamber, pressure carries brewed coffee upward, and the finished coffee collects in the upper vessel ready to pour directly at the table.
Signature Features
Traditional moka brewing: Uses stovetop pressure to brew concentrated coffee without paper filters or electricity.
Aluminum construction: Keeps the coffee maker lightweight and responsive to heat during brewing.
Dome-shaped lid: The defining Cupola form gives Rossi's design its architectural silhouette and name.
Black thermoplastic handle and knob: Provide a clear grip and visual contrast against the aluminum body.
Two useful sizes: Choose the 3-cup version for smaller servings or the 6-cup version when preparing coffee for more than one person.
Aldo Rossi design: La Cupola has been part of the Alessi collection since 1988 and remains one of Rossi's best-known designs for the home.
From Our Founder
"La Cupola is one of those Alessi pieces where you understand the designer immediately. It works like a familiar moka pot, but Rossi's tall body and domed lid give it a presence that makes you want to bring it straight from the stove to the table."
