Alessi Michael Graves 9093 BB Kettle - All Black
40th-anniversary Michael Graves kettle in deep black stainless steel with contrasting orange bird whistle
The Alessi Michael Graves 9093 BB Kettle gives the celebrated 1985 design a deep black finish for its 40th anniversary. The black stainless steel body and handle sharpen the kettle's familiar architectural profile, while the orange bird-shaped whistle provides the single bright accent and sounds when the water reaches a boil.
Why Order from Design & Grace

Ships from Texas: Your Alessi order is carefully packed and shipped from our Texas facility.
A distinct anniversary edition: The 9093 BB is the 2025 interpretation of Michael Graves' original kettle, with a black stainless steel body rather than the mirror-polished finish used on the classic 9093.
Forty Years of the 9093
Michael Graves designed the original 9093 in 1985, bringing together a conical kettle body, broad handle, and bird-shaped whistle in a form that became one of Alessi's defining designs. The whistle turns the moment of boiling into an audible part of the object, giving a practical stovetop kettle an unmistakable personality.
For the 40th anniversary, Alessi reworked the surface rather than the silhouette. The deep black body and handle make the geometry more pronounced, while the orange bird draws directly from Graves' characteristic color palette.
Signature Features
40th-anniversary edition: Introduced in 2025 to mark forty years since the original Michael Graves 9093 entered production.
2 L capacity: Holds 67.6 fl oz for tea, French press coffee, pour-over brewing, and everyday hot-water needs.
Black colored stainless steel: Gives the kettle a substantially darker, more graphic appearance than the classic mirror-polished 9093.
Orange bird-shaped whistle: Sounds when the water reaches a boil and provides the defining color contrast against the black kettle.
Black PA handle: Extends the dark finish through the grip while preserving the original Graves proportions.
Induction-compatible base: A magnetic steel bottom makes the kettle suitable for induction and other compatible stovetops.
Michael Graves design: The underlying form dates to 1985 and remains one of Alessi's most recognizable designs.
Made in Italy: The 9093 BB is produced in Italy.
From Our Founder
"The black finish changes the character of the 9093 without changing what makes the design work. It puts more emphasis on the kettle's shape, and the orange bird becomes the one playful detail that immediately tells you this is Michael Graves."
Tony Boulton, Founder, Design & Grace
