Alessi Yucatan Salt & Pepper Grinder
Italian-made beech wood mill for salt, pepper, and spices, designed by Michele De Lucchi
The Alessi Yucatan Salt & Pepper Grinder gives the familiar two-handed mill a sculptural form in solid beech wood. Designed by Michele De Lucchi, it uses the traditional twisting motion of a tabletop grinder while the brown-dyed wood and natural oil finish give each piece a warm, tactile character.
Why Order from Design & Grace
Authorized Alessi retailer: Design & Grace is an authorized Alessi retailer, so you receive a genuine Yucatan with Alessi's 24-month manufacturer warranty against manufacturing defects.
Ships from Texas: Your Alessi order is carefully packed and shipped from our Texas facility.
Designed for daily use: Yucatan works with salt, pepper, and suitable spices, making it a versatile mill for both cooking and the table.
A Wood Grinder by Michele De Lucchi
Michele De Lucchi has worked extensively with wood and hand-shaped forms, and Yucatan brings that interest to one of the table's most familiar tools. The mill is held with both hands and operated with a twisting motion, preserving the direct mechanics of a traditional grinder.
The beech body is dyed brown and finished with natural oil rather than covered with an opaque surface. That keeps the grain visible and gives each grinder subtle variations in tone and texture.
Signature Features
Salt, pepper, and spice mill: Designed for grinding a range of suitable dry seasonings rather than serving only one dedicated function.
Traditional twist operation: The two-part form is held in both hands and turned to operate the grinder.
Beech wood body: Gives Yucatan a warm, substantial feel that differs from Alessi's metal and resin mills.
Natural oil finish: Protects the wood while preserving its tactile surface and visible grain.
6.89-inch height: Provides a comfortable two-handed grip while giving the mill enough presence to leave on the table.
Michele De Lucchi design: The sculptural form reflects the designer's longstanding interest in woodworking and turned wooden objects.
Made in Italy: Yucatan is produced in Italy and joined the Alessi collection in 2025.
From Our Founder
"Yucatan feels especially good in the hand because the wood is doing more than adding warmth. The shape, weight, and twisting motion all work together, and the natural oil finish lets the material stay very much part of the experience."
Tony Boulton, Founder, Design & Grace
