Alessi Alessandro M. Corkscrew - Studio Temp Design
Alessandro M. corkscrew in AlkiPaper® and chrome-plated zamak with Studio Temp's phosphorescent graphic pattern
The Alessi Alessandro M. Corkscrew with Studio Temp's design gives Alessandro Mendini's familiar self-portrait a more graphic, contemporary identity. The AlkiPaper® body is covered in a red pattern inspired by street graphics and visual codes, with phosphorescent elements that reveal an additional layer after exposure to light.

A distinct 2024 interpretation: This edition preserves Alessandro Mendini's original corkscrew mechanism while giving the figure a new surface treatment created specifically by Studio Temp.
A Graphic Reinterpretation of Alessandro M.
Studio Temp approached Alessandro M. through contemporary graphic language, drawing on street signs, popular graphics, and coded visual systems. The result feels deliberately layered, with red motifs visible in normal light and phosphorescent details that emerge in darkness.
The decoration is applied to an AlkiPaper® body, a paper-based biocomposite, while the working mechanism remains chrome-plated zamak. That keeps the familiar proportions and movement of Alessandro M. intact beneath the new graphic treatment.
Signature Features
Studio Temp pattern: A red graphic treatment draws on street culture, signage, and coded visual references.
Phosphorescent details: Selected elements become visible in the dark after the corkscrew has been exposed to light.
AlkiPaper® body: The decorated body uses Alessi's paper-based biocomposite material.
Chrome-plated zamak mechanism: Provides the substantial metal working structure beneath the patterned body.
Anthropomorphic design: The figure twists as the corkscrew operates, preserving the characteristic movement of Alessandro Mendini's original design.
Original proportions: Measures 8.27 inches high with a 2.36-inch diameter.
2024 edition: This Studio Temp interpretation entered production in 2024.
From Our Founder
"This is one of the more interesting Alessandro M. editions because the pattern changes depending on the light. Studio Temp gives the familiar figure a sharper graphic character without interfering with the mechanism that makes the original design work."
Tony Boulton, Founder, Design & Grace
