Alessi Ettore Sottsass Corkscrew
Made-in-Italy beechwood corkscrew in black, yellow, and white from Ettore Sottsass' Twergi design
The Alessi Ettore Sottsass Corkscrew turns a familiar bar tool into a stacked composition of color, wood, and geometry. Originally designed in 1993 for the Twergi collection, its turned beechwood forms create a comfortable grip while the bold black, yellow, and white palette gives the piece the unmistakable energy of Sottsass' work.

Turned Wood, Color, and Sottsass Geometry
This corkscrew was designed in 1993 as part of Twergi, Alessi's exploration of the woodturning tradition around its home region in northern Italy. The stepped volumes are not purely decorative. Their proportions create an ergonomic form that is comfortable to hold while opening a bottle.
Alessi returned the design to production in 2021 for its 100 Values Collection. The beechwood is turned in Italy using a partly hand-crafted process and finished with water-based, solvent-free paints.
Signature Features
Turned beechwood construction: Uses shaped wooden volumes to create both the grip and the corkscrew's distinctive sculptural profile.
Black, yellow, and white finish: Gives the piece the strong geometric color language associated with Ettore Sottsass.
Ergonomic form: The stacked volumes are shaped to provide a comfortable hold while operating the corkscrew.
Twergi heritage: Originally designed in 1993 as part of Alessi's collection celebrating the local tradition of woodturning.
Water-based paints: Finished with solvent-free water-based color coatings.
Made in Italy: Produced near Alessi's home using a partly hand-crafted turning process.
From Our Founder
"This corkscrew is unmistakably Sottsass. The color gets your attention first, but the turned wood and proportions are what make it satisfying to pick up and use."
