Alessi Forma Cheese Grater
Zaha Hadid's sculptural 18/10 stainless steel cheese grater with melamine display base
The Alessi Forma Cheese Grater brings Zaha Hadid's fluid, organic design language to a tool made for everyday Parmesan and hard cheese. Its curved stainless steel body is shaped to sit naturally in the palm, while an irregular pattern of grating holes creates varied texture as cheese falls across the plate.

Shaped to Fit the Hand
Forma takes inspiration from pebbles gradually smoothed by water and wind. Rather than using a conventional flat or box shape, Hadid created a continuous curved surface that fits into the hand and lets you grate directly over a plate, bowl, or serving dish.
The asymmetrical grating pattern produces a less uniform texture than a standard grater, while the included black melamine base gives Forma a dedicated place to rest between uses and turns it into a sculptural tabletop object.
Signature Features
Palm-fitting form: The curved body is shaped to rest comfortably in the hand while grating.
Asymmetrical grating surface: Irregularly arranged holes produce varied pieces of cheese for a more textured finish.
18/10 stainless steel: Durable stainless construction forms the complete working grater surface.
Melamine base: Provides a stable resting place for the grater and completes the sculptural presentation.
Dishwasher safe: Designed for straightforward cleaning after use.
Zaha Hadid design: Introduced in 2017 and shaped with the flowing geometry associated with Hadid's architecture and product design.
From Our Founder
"Forma feels very different from a conventional cheese grater because the shape is built around the hand. The base also matters. It gives the grater somewhere proper to live, so it works as both a kitchen tool and a piece you can leave on the table."
Tony Boulton, Founder, Design & Grace
