Alessi Toru Electric Toaster

Alessi Toru Electric Toaster

Two-slice toaster in 18/10 stainless steel with black thermoplastic handles and simple browning controls

The Alessi Toru Electric Toaster gives a daily countertop appliance the restrained, architectural treatment Nendo brings to the entire Toru collection. Its polished stainless steel body is crossed by black tubular handles that appear to pass directly through the toaster, while straightforward browning, defrost, reheat, and eject controls keep the experience practical.

Stainless Steel, Reduced to the Essentials

Toru means “through” in Japanese, a reference to the black tubular element that visually passes through the stainless steel body. On the toaster, that element becomes a pair of handles, turning a practical detail into the defining feature of the design.

Nendo keeps the rest of the appliance deliberately simple. Two bread slots handle everyday toast, a browning dial adjusts the result, and dedicated controls provide defrost, reheat, and eject functions. A removable crumb tray makes routine cleanup easier.

Signature Features

18/10 stainless steel body: Gives the Toru toaster its clean metallic surface and substantial countertop presence.

Black integrated handles: The tubular thermoplastic elements appear to pass through the body, creating the visual idea behind the Toru collection.

Two-slice configuration: Provides straightforward capacity for everyday toast and breakfast preparation.

Adjustable browning: A dedicated dial lets you control the level of browning to suit different breads and preferences.

Defrost function: Provides a dedicated setting for bread taken directly from the freezer.

Reheat function: Warms previously toasted bread without requiring a full new toasting cycle.

Eject control: Lets you stop the cycle and raise the toast whenever needed.

Removable crumb tray: Pulls out from the base for easier routine cleaning.

Nendo design: Introduced in 2024 as part of the coordinated Toru appliance collection.

From Our Founder

"Toru is a good example of Nendo making one strong design idea do the work. The black handles give the toaster its identity, while the stainless steel body and simple controls keep it useful enough for every morning."
