Place a potato or another suitable vegetable on a stable cutting board, set the cutter over it, and press downward. The fixed blade arrangement creates consistent grooves while leaving the base connected.

The fitted pusher rises as the cutter moves down. Press it back through the frame after cutting to release the vegetable from the blades, which makes preparing several pieces in succession much easier.
