The Jura CLEARYL Smart+ Water Filter 24234 (CLEARYL Smart Plus) improves the water used by compatible Jura automatic coffee machines while protecting against limescale. It combines freshly filtered water for every coffee preparation with an additional active-ingredient capsule that helps reduce limescale deposits inside the water tank. The result is better water quality for coffee and less maintenance for your machine.

Designed for selected Jura machines with the Intelligent Water System (I.W.S.), this Jura water filter communicates directly with the machine through RFID technology. The machine recognizes the cartridge automatically, activates filter mode and reminds you when replacement is needed.

Smart+ water tank protection

A capsule of natural active ingredients at the base of the cartridge continuously helps stabilize the water, reducing limescale deposits inside the tank. It works through the natural movement of water without additional power.

Fresh filtration for every coffee

Jura's professional up-flow principle uses ion exchange and activated carbon to filter the water required for each preparation, helping reduce chlorine, calcium carbonate and unwanted substances while retaining important minerals.

Automatic RFID recognition

Less descaling

With an active CLEARYL filter, Jura does not require routine descaling and your machine will not prompt you to descale. We still suggest an optional descale about once a year, especially in hard water areas. Follow your machine's maintenance prompts.

Insert the CLEARYL Smart+ cartridge into the water tank of a compatible Jura coffee machine, following the machine's instructions.

The Intelligent Water System automatically recognizes the cartridge and initiates the filter activation and rinsing process.

Replace the filter when the machine prompts you. Filter capacity depends on local water hardness and usage.

With an active filter, Jura does not require routine descaling; we suggest an optional descale about once a year, especially in hard water areas. Follow all machine maintenance prompts, including any descaling instructions if filtration is interrupted or the cartridge is not replaced.

What is the difference between CLEARYL Smart and CLEARYL Smart+?

CLEARYL Smart+ adds a capsule containing natural active ingredients at the bottom of the filter cartridge. This continuously helps stabilize the water inside the tank and reduce limescale deposits. It retains the original Smart filter's RFID recognition and on-demand water filtration.

Does CLEARYL Smart+ 24234 replace the older Jura Smart filters?

Yes. The CLEARYL Smart+ 24234 replaces the original CLEARYL Smart 72629 and CLEARYL Smart Mini 75032 in compatible Jura machines.

How often should I replace my Jura CLEARYL Smart+ filter?

Replacement depends on water hardness and how much water your machine uses. On average a filter lasts about 50 liters, or about two months, whichever comes first. Compatible Jura machines monitor filter usage and display a replacement reminder. Jura also recommends replacing CLEARYL filters after two months, even when the maximum filtration capacity has not been reached.

Do I still need to descale my Jura machine when using CLEARYL Smart+?

No routine descaling is necessary when the filter is correctly installed, recognized by the machine and replaced when required. If a depleted filter is not replaced, the machine may switch to descaling mode and prompt you to descale. At Design & Grace, we still suggest a descale about once a year, especially in hard water areas. This is optional maintenance, not a Jura requirement.

Does the CLEARYL Smart+ filter improve the taste of coffee?

Jura is the only Swiss made original filter that should be used with Jura automatic coffee machines. It is specifically engineered to meet the standards of these machines and give you the best coffee taste. Using an imitation “Jura type” filter defeats the entire purpose of owning one of these specialty machines. Use the originals.
