When returning any items, they should be in "as new" condition in it's original packaging. Use it after establishing the edge with the Diamond Standard disc and removing the burr with the Ceramic Smooth disc. The Fine whetstone works dry, so there is no soaking or water preparation before sharpening. It gives cooks with quality knives a straightforward way to move from a clean working edge into more deliberate fine honing.
