HORL 3 Diamond Grinding Disc – Standard

Block Diamond Surface

HORL uses a durable block diamond surface engineered for efficient steel removal with a uniform grinding pattern. Compared with the HORL 2 generation, the updated surface removes up to 80% more steel while keeping material removal controlled enough for regular sharpening. A small amount of excess diamond material may release during the first use as the surface settles into its working roughness.

HORL Quick Lock

The HORL Quick Lock connection lets the disc twist on and off compatible HORL 3 sharpeners without tools. Manufactured by HORL’s regional partners near the Black Forest, it is built as a long-term sharpening surface rather than a frequently replaced consumable.

Questions answered

Frequently asked questions

Which HORL sharpeners does this disc fit?

The HORL 3 Oak, HORL 3 Walnut and HORL 3 Pro, which use HORL Quick Lock. It does not fit the HORL 3 Cruise, which has permanently fitted discs, or the HORL 2.

What is the HORL 3 Diamond Standard disc used for?

It is the primary sharpening disc for establishing the cutting edge before honing or finer refinement.

Can it sharpen hard knife steels?

Yes. HORL specifies the Diamond Standard disc for knives across hardness grades.

Is this the same type of disc supplied with the HORL 3 sharpener?

Yes. The Diamond Standard grinding disc is fitted as standard on the HORL 3 and HORL 3 Pro.

Does the diamond surface wear out quickly?

No. HORL designs the disc to retain its grinding performance for years, and states that with correct use it should not require routine replacement.

Why does the disc feel different after the first sharpening?

Some excess diamond particles can release during the initial use. The surface then settles into its intended working roughness.
